Clot Removing Tool (MegaVac)

Did you know that 29% of all deaths in Canada are from heart disease. Some of these deaths could have been caused by a blood clot that had formed and blocked one of the arteries or veins. These deaths may have been prevented if the person knew they had a clot and had a procedure called a Thrombectomy.

With the new advances in technology, Cardiovascular surgeons can now use a tiny "vacuum" tool instead of cutting the patient open to remove the deadly clots. The tool is called MegaVac, it is made up of three combined pieces of technology. The first part is the MegaVac catheter, this is a large funnel mouth which expands radially to occlude the vessel and creates focused vacuum aspiration. Second is the Thrombowire Clot Retractor, this part pulls the clot into the funnel mouth so that it can be removed via the catheter shaft and out of the body. The last part of this tool is the Safeseal Technology. This is a on/off feature that blocks the blood flow when the funnel is deployed, it opens slightly and uses the patient's own blood pressure to finish deploying the tip and the funnel is safely pressed against the vessel walls to prevent the blood clot from breaking off and travelling in the blood stream.


This tool produces several advantages in the healthcare field and to patient's who have a history of clots or have heart disease. Instead of going through a major procedure of being opened up, this tool is just inserted in the neck or groin area, this limits the complications that may arise and is not as invasive for the patient.

Each year technology is becoming increasingly helpful to us, especially in the healthcare field. 3D Hologram Technology in Healthcare

Welcome To The Future. Did you know that we can now see inside of the human body without having to cut someone open! For years doctors have only been able to look at medical scans, like CT's or MRI's on their computers. Now, an Israeli company has developed a 3D holographic technology that can convert the 2D medical imaging data into fully interactive virtual reality images. With this new technology, doctors can view, manipulate and dissect body parts that are recreated in midair above the desktop.
